Fusing together an individual blend of soul, funk, groove and spice to create their own sound of Electric Soul.
As they performed, recorded and wrote, the young 5-piece gradually captured the growing attention of eyes and ears around Melbourne and beyond.
The band is Kenny Berthelot (Vocals), Craig Kemp (Guitar), Rick Berry (Drums), James Fleming (Keys) and Alex Orr (Bass).
From humble beginnings winning a Battle of the Bands (and battling it out on smaller stages around town) Kingston Crown’s mutual love for classic Soul and R‘n'B music combined with Hip Hop, Funk and Pop/Rock influences grew along with their energetic performances.
Since the early stages of forming Kingston the band have gone on to make appearances on festival bills, feature and perform on multiple radio programs and tour successfully Interstate.
Kingston Crown recorded and released their debut EP entitled ‘Show Me How’ in August 2013. From the sultry ‘All I Know’ – evoking memories of a dimly lit, smoke filled Jazz club – to the frantic up-tempo energy of plastic-Motown tune ‘Higher’, Kenny Berthelot‘s unique, soaring vocals keep the band firmly grounded to it’s Soul roots. Alongside the four studio tracks the EP also features ‘Groove On’ a live track recorded during a benefit concert which showcases the raw energy of a Kingston Crown live show in full flight.
