John Brennan was born in London's East End an area renowned for producing such stars as “Anthony Newley” “Matt Monro” and “Des O'Connor" to name just a few. By his late teens John was singing in popular bands presenting a variety of musical styles from Rock and Roll to Jazz Standards. In his twenties he became a professional singer fronting a showband called “Showcase” and providing musical backing for some of Britain's best known Comedians and Cabaret performers touring the U.K.
Immigrating to Australia became the moment to make a complete change and on arriving in Brisbane he quickly established himself in the Cabaret scene performing up to three shows a night seven days a week.
Within a couple of years he became “Entertainer of the Year” and was presented with awards by celebrities “Warren Mitchell (Alf Garnett)”, ”The Seekers” and ”Ray Barratt”. The following year he was again voted by his peers and became the award winner for the second time in a row and this time the presenter was “Danny La Rue” Britain's “Entertainer of the Decade”. John followed these awards by being chosen to appear in a Command Performance show alongside many international stars..
At this time Johns second album “ The Nearness of You” was recorded, a more laid back style of easy listening music. He was also appearing on T.V with “Paul Sharratt” and “Izzy Dye”, on radio at 4BH and headlining on cruise ships sailing out of Sydney.

Influenced by Jazz musicians, swing music and especially the Big Band sound in the late 1990's John was approached to sing with the newly formed Australian “Glenn Miller Tribute Band” , together they performed at many leading venues and functions. This gave John a great insight to the workings of Big Bands and rekindled his passion for this genre of music.
Totally professional John has warmth and charm is immaculate in presentation, dynamic in performance and uses no vocal gimmicks only his solid musical ability. There is a distinct quality to his performance and with a voice that is smooth and mellow together with a delightfully unpretentious stage presence John has an unmistakable way with a song and it is easy to understand why one comes away from his shows with a feeling of being truly entertained.
It is this talent together with a touch of comedy and spontaneity as well as the ability to put his audience at ease that kept John in demand internationally for guest artist appearances, concerts, corporate and private events as well as cruise ship performance worldwide.
Winding down his career on the big stage has been the chance to not retire from the industry but rather downsize his act to a much more intimate and portable sound. So with this in mind his solo act "Touch of Swing" was created Ideally suited for morning melodies in clubs and hotels, corporate and private events plus we also also offer background music pre-nuptial and/or pre-reception at weddings. Add state of the art sound equipment, only the worlds best professionally recorded live- track backings together with Johns vocals and you have "Touch of Swing".
