After releasing the extended play No. 5 Collaborations Project, Ed Sheeran signed with Asylum records, with whom he released his debut record “+” (Plus) in September 2011. It topped both UK and Australian charts - reaching number 5 in the USA - and in the UK has since been certified platinum seven times. The album contains the single “The A Team” which earned him the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. In 2012, Sheeran won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act.
Since his breakthrough, Sheeran has released a further 2 albums, X (Multiply, 2014), charting at number 1 in 9 countries and certified platinum 11 times, and ÷ (Divide, 2017), charting at number 1 in 10 countries and certified platinum 10 times in under 24 months, with Sheeran consistently selling out stadiums across the globe in the meantime.
